What would have happened to the face if it hadn’t been cleaned for 30 years: AI shows the result
A study has shown that improper makeup removal and lack of proper facial cleansing can cause long-term damage to the skin.
Thus, Sculpted By Aimee, a cosmetics and skincare brand founded in 2016 by makeup artist Aimee Connolly, conducted a survey with 2914 women from the UK and Ireland. It found that 36.8% of participants go to bed without washing off their makeup when they are tired, and 47.3% do not remove makeup after a workout, OBOZ.UA writes.
To better illustrate the potential harm, Sculpted by Aimee collaborated with cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Nora Jaafar and used advanced artificial intelligence technology to create “Uncleaned Aimee.”
This image showed what the flawless skin of the brand’s founder, Aimee Connolly, would look like in 30 years if she had neglected her regular routine of proper cleansing.
The top 5 biggest skin problems that can be caused by not removing makeup all the time:
- Chronic inflammation: Lack of proper cleansing can lead to persistent irritation and inflammation, weakening the skin barrier and causing redness, sensitivity, and long-term damage over time.
- Uneven skin texture and pigmentation: Without proper cleansing, impurities, dead skin cells, and pollutants build up, resulting in a dull and rough skin surface. When combined with UV radiation, this can also trigger excessive melanin production, causing dark spots, discoloration, and uneven skin tone.
- Blackheads and enlarged pores: Dirt and oil trapped in the pores lead to blackheads and make the pores appear larger and more visible.
- Accelerated aging: Without regular cleansing, free radicals from pollutants remain on the skin, increasing oxidative stress. This can lead to premature aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity.
- Increased risk of skin infections: over time, lack of cleansing can lead to an increased likelihood of bacterial or fungal infections, especially in areas where sweat and fat naturally accumulate.
