Not in the fridge: where to store ginger so it doesn’t spoil for months

Ginger is a versatile product that is used in everything from cakes to fried potatoes.

It is best to use the fresh root to enjoy its wonderful spicy flavor, but proper storage is required to avoid rapid spoilage, OBOZ.UA writes.

Ginger can stay fresh for up to six months if stored properly. According to experts, the best way is to freeze it. Then it will retain its texture.

To do this, it is advised to cut it into coin-sized pieces and store it in a freezer bag. In the short term, you can store ginger at room temperature, but this should not last longer than a week. Over time, it will begin to lose moisture and flavor, and then shrivel.

Ginger can last up to four weeks when stored in the refrigerator, however, according to experts, the texture can also change and become spongy.
