The British indie band Sports Team was robbed at gunpoint after the band started their concert tour in the United States. At the time, it had been only 10 minutes since the band had started their tour, but they lost their personal property during a stop at a Starbucks.

The robbers attacked the band’s tour van in California on Tuesday, December 3, in the morning. According to CNN, despite the unfortunate situation, the band managed to play their first concert of the tour and continue performing.

Sports Team posted a video of the events that were happening at the time on Instagram and told more about the incident. The footage shows a man in a black hoodie “spinning” around a white minibus.

“Just got robbed at gunpoint 10 minutes after starting a tour of the US. I stopped for a coffee. A man comes running and says that some guys are smashing the van. I ran out to stop them and saw masked guys searching the van. I started screaming, and they pulled out a gun. The police responded: “Write a statement online”. We lost a lot of personal belongings, but they didn’t take our instruments, so we’re going to Sacramento to play tonight. They can take away our Nintendo consoles, but they can never take away our ability to play rock songs about freeways,” the band said, adding that it was wild.

Three of the band’s six members had their passports stolen, while the others were robbed of cameras, laptops, headphones, and other personal items.

Sports Team’s frontman and guitarist Henry Young said that the concert in Sacramento, California, went on as planned, despite the fact that all the members were “pretty shocked.”

Sports Team was formed in 2016, but their debut EP Winter Nets was released in January 2018. The band members met while studying at Cambridge University, except for Dewdney, who studied at the University of Bristol.
