January 14 marks the ninth anniversary of the death of the famous British actor Alan Rickman, who gave the world a brilliant performance of Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter.

He passed away at the age of 69 due to pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with a year earlier after suffering a microstroke.

Die Hard, 1988

In the action movie, Alan Rickman appeared as the German terrorist Hans Gruber, who, together with his gang, took people hostage. This role opened the way to big movies for him. Rickman’s character was named one of the top 100 best villains of all time by the American Film Institute.

Sense and Sensibility, 1995

In the movie based on Jane Austen’s novel, the actor played Colonel Brandon, who lived next door to the heroine named Marianne and wanted to win her attention. Rickman incredibly subtly conveyed the character of this touching character who was ready to do anything for the one he was in love with.

Harry Potter

Professor of Potions and the Dark Arts Severus Snape was in all 8 films. In the first parts, Rickman brilliantly managed to create a negative impression of this repulsive character, thanks to the way he coldly treated students and teachers. Almost in the finale, one of the last scenes with him made many Potter fans shed a tear while watching.

Love Actually, 2003

In this romantic comedy, which many people like to watch during the Christmas holidays, Rickman played Harry, a husband and father of two.
