Grandpa Steve Rodgers? Chris Evans is coming back to Marvel for the next Avengers
Despite the fact that the story of the Avengers superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is over, viewers are likely to see their favorite actors again. Thus, it is confirmed that the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday will feature Chris Evans.
This was reported by The Wrap. The actor will definitely be involved in the movie’s cast. However, it is not yet known what role he will play in it.
In the original Avengers franchise, Evans played Steve Rogers, or Captain America. However, in Avengers: Endgame that came out back in 2019, the story of this character came to an end.
Recently, the actor starred in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine. This time, however, he portrayed Johnny Storm from the Fox movie Fantastic Four, not Captain America.
It is now known that the Russo brothers, who are responsible for Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, will return to direct Avengers: Doomsday and its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars. The first film in this dilogy is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. Rumors that Chris Evans will appear in the movie have been circulating for a long time, but Marvel never commented on them.
According to the plot, Steve Rogers grew old and retired from the superhero team, while Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) died. However, it is now known that the Iron Man actor will also return to the cinematic universe, albeit with a different look.
Evans last appeared as Captain America in Avengers: Infinity War in 2019. He is now succeeded by Anthony Mackie, who will take over the role in the upcoming action movie Captain America: Brave New World that will be out February 2025.
Evans first played the powerful soldier in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger and reprised the role in the sequels Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, as well as starred in all four films of the Avengers series.
