Kate Middleton, who is gradually returning to royal duties after a course of chemotherapy, appeared at the Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. At the concert, which the princess has been organizing for the fourth year in a row, the audience greeted her with enthusiastic cheers.

During an address to fans, William’s wife admitted that at last year’s event, she “didn’t know” what 2024 had in store for her, the Daily Mail reports. At the time, Kate was focused on work and children and was looking forward to the holiday season without having any idea what awaited her. A few weeks later, she underwent a major surgery, after which specialists reported that they had found signs of cancer and advised her to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy.

Despite a difficult period in her life, the princess shone again in front of the audience. She looked gorgeous in a festive red coat with a black big bow by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen as she arrived for the gala in London. Before the event, she was joined by her three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, as well as her husband William.

The service was dedicated to those who have “shown love, kindness, and compassion to others in their communities” and “inspired, advised, comforted, and emphasized how love unites and connects us all.” Each guest received a letter from Kate Middleton, which read: “This carol is a heartfelt celebration for each of you and a reminder that at Christmas and throughout the year we should all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sorrow, we are all a light to each other.”
