No eyes and cries like a baby: a mutant piglet was born in the Philippines
A “humanoid” mutant piglet was born in the Philippines. It has no eyes, but it “cries like a baby”.
The unusual piglet was born fourth in a litter of eight. Interestingly, its siblings had no defects, What’s the jam writes.
The pig’s owner, Alfredo Cardinas Jr. said he was scared when he saw the newborn pig. “I was even more shocked when I heard it crying. It sounded like a baby crying,” the farmer added.
The piglet was born in Alfredo’s home in Tanjay, located south of Manila in the Philippines.
When the owner of the mutant posted a video of the animal on Facebook, it immediately went viral and gained 1.5 million views and almost 1,000 comments.
The published footage shows that the pig does have something similar to a human face, but without eyes.
Alfredo said he had to put the piglet on the ground because it could not support the weight of its large head. He said that the newborn mutant tried to breathe. However, obvious physiological disorders caused the animal’s death four hours after birth.
Local veterinarian Ma Christine Hope Dehadena emphasized that this is a unique case. “The case is very rare because his siblings are well developed and healthy,” she emphasized.
“This is a congenital malformation – a head disorder in which the forebrain cannot develop into two hemispheres,” explained veterinarian Aris Miklat.
He added that the piglet’s mother may have been exposed to chemicals or pesticides during pregnancy, which affected the development of her fetus in the womb.
Dr. Miklat also ruled out the possibility that the piglet was the product of a cross between a pig mother and a human.
Farmer Alfredo said that this is not the first time this sow has given birth to a piglet with certain defects.
