“We were shocked”: designer of Zelenskyy’s image in the White House reacts to criticism of the president and suggests why he was asked about the suit
Fashion designer Elvira Hasanova, who works on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s style, commented on the criticism of the Ukrainian president during his visit to the White House in the United States.
In particular, she expressed surprise that the issue of the suit was one of the topics of discussion during the meeting with Donald Trump.
According to Hasanova, at the beginning of the meeting, Trump remarked that Zelenskyy looked “more dapper” this time. She suggested that the choice of a dark outfit played a role in the perception of the US president’s image. The fashion designer spoke about this in a comment to OBOZ.UA.
“I saw a video when the president was just getting out of the car, and he was met by Trump. And he said: “You look more dapper today.” And I thought it was funny, maybe the total black worked a little bit, because even though it wasn’t a full-fledged suit, he noticed that Volodymyr Oleksandrovych looked more dapper today. And that made me happy, because I thought: “Great, so there will be no issues with this,” Elvira Hasanova said.
However, the situation changed during the conversation at the White House, when the discussion became heated. “We were all shocked, and I think the suit issue was just a strawman during any quarrel. Somehow, they just wanted to provoke the president, but I think he responded very appropriately, as always,” she added.
We would like to remind you that during a conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, he and a journalist had a dispute over the appearance of the Ukrainian president. The US press cynically asked why the Ukrainian did not come to the meeting in a business suit. Zelenskyy replied: “I will wear it when the war is over. Maybe one like yours. Maybe it will be better. Maybe cheaper. We’ll see!”
Hasanova also emphasized that Zelenskyy had clearly explained his position on the suit, saying that he would definitely wear it after the war was over. According to the designer, this message is part of a demonstration of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
