What Kyiv looked like in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Unique photos that have never been published before

Thanks to the works of Ukrainian photographer Ivan Ranchukov, we can see Kyiv in a way we never knew. In particular, thanks to unique photos from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The old photos were published on the Telegram channel of the Retro Kyiv community. Back then, the city was striking in its amount of greenery.

“Film footage from the archive of Ivan Ranchukov. Probably the late 60s or early 70s. It is published for the first time,” the post says.

In the unique footage, you can see what our city was like before the time of massive development, see the panorama of the Dnipro, the left bank of the capital and Podil.

The first high-rise building in Kyiv’s history was the Ginzburg skyscraper. Its construction cost 1.5 million rubles of the Russian Empire, and 12 million bricks were used for its construction.
