The 77-year-old British singer Elton John made a frank confession about his health after suffering a severe eye infection. According to the musician, the disease particularly affected his right eye, which is why the star can hardly see.

“Unfortunately, I lost the sight in my right eye in July due to an infection I picked up in the south of France. It’s been four months since I’ve been blind. My left eye is no better,” the celebrity said in the studio of “Good Morning America,” The Independent reports. John added that it is difficult for him to work because he cannot see the lyrics in the recording studio.

Elton explained that he and his doctors are “taking the lead” in his treatment, but “it’s never an accident when something like this happens.” “I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” the singer said. “Over the summer, I fought a severe eye infection that unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye. I am recovering, but it is an extremely slow process, and it will take some time before my vision returns to the affected eye,” the musician wrote on social media.

In the early fall, the celebrity also thanked the doctors and his family, thanks to whom positive dynamics in his treatment can be observed: “I am very grateful to the wonderful team of doctors and nurses and my family who have taken such good care of me over the past few weeks. I spent a relaxing summer recovering at home and am making positive progress.”
